March 1, 2017: Day +102

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.  Doug and I celebrated the day in a non-traditional way for both of us.  My friend, the Rev. Karen Hernandez was providing Ashes On The Go at Ridley's grocery store in Kuna.  I had the opportunity to stop by on my way to work.  It was wonderful to receive the ashes from her.  And then Doug was blessed to have our friend Norm Shrum drop by with ashes as well as Fr. Dave.  We both feel blessed to have started Lent, a serious time of reflection and transformation with the blessing of friends.

I look back, when Doug was so ill during the season of Advent and we waited with expectation. Then during Christmas we celebrated the incarnation, God with us and Doug lived. Epiphany came, with the light coming into the work and Doug began healing from illness and began to move. Now during Lent, a time for transformation, what will happen? Each day we will open ourselves to transformation and new life.

And so we pray:
