It is the day before we leave and there is still so much to do. I started the morning early getting a mammogram that was overdue because I have been to busy with work and preparations for Doug's stem was cell transplant. I am reminded of when my uncle did not attend to a mole because of taking care of his mom. And so I decided this was way to important to skip even if it did make the day a little more crazy. (reading this to Doug, he says that he also fussed at me).
Then off to work to meet with Vicki Hardin my administrative assistant and Earnie Lewis who will be filling in for me. Poor Earnie only got a few hours sleep after flying in from a vacation in China. Thank you Earnie for coming in and going over the balcony view of everything I have going on. Everyone will love having you there.
The rest of the day was filled with picking up prescriptions, new slippers for Doug, dog food for Stryder and the most important event, Doug's haircut. It is anticipated that Doug will loose his hair and so we decided to be preemptive and get his head shaved before it started falling out. We selected Lee Ortivez from Salon Che in Nampa because we knew he would take care for Doug's emotional response to getting his hair shaved and make it look good. And that he did. He decided not to shave it but to cut it very close and stylish! Thanks Lee for taking care of us! He looks good!
The rest of the evening is filled with finishing our packing, getting the house ready, garbage out and tending to our fish that our neighbor Karen has graciously agreed to feed at the last minute while we are gone.
I finally make it to bed around midnight, but cannot sleep I guess this adventure is just too big. My mind just keeps rolling. The alarm clock going off at 6:30 was just to early!
Every other blog I have kept I have ended the day with a lesson learned. I wonder how should I end each day. I think I will end with a prayer. It is only through grace that we are making this "Great Endeavor". So here goes...
Holy One, we give thanks for everyone who made this "Great Endeavor" possible. We thank you for giving us the courage to say yes, when your spirit invited us on this journey. Be with us as travel tomorrow and make the path clear for us. Amen
